4 Must-Try Supper Spots For Chinese Cuisine At Geylang!

Bright, busy, and always bustling with activity, Geylang seems to be one of those streets that never sleep. Walking along the rows of shophouses in there can sometimes almost feel like you’ve stepped into another country! These busy streets hold many gems when it comes to good eats, and so here are 4 must-try supper spots at Geylang you should seriously visit!

If you aren’t already a fan of China-style BBQs, this might change your mind. Tucked away along Lorong 11 is Liu Da Ma BBQ Restaurant, a popular dinner-supper spot known for their skewers, Chinese beers, and a long menu of authentic North-Eastern Chinese side dishes!

Perhaps their greatest attraction however, is their charcoal BBQ. One of the main draws for many is their Lamb Leg BBQ, where you get to roast an entire leg of lamb at your table, while you cut and season it to taste! Paired with some cool drinks and good company, and this is the perfect way to unwind after a long day.

If BBQs aren’t your thing, perhaps you’d enjoy some late night dim sum instead! Reliably open 24/7, Mongkok DimSum is another popular spot for those looking for a bite after a night out on the town.

Their offerings include the standard dim sum classics, such as Prawn Dumplings ($6.50), Siew Mai ($5.80), Custard Buns ($5.80), and the like. If you’re in the mood for something a little heavier, we’d recommend the Pork Cutlet with Egg Fried Rice ($13.80).

Geylang Lor 9 Fresh Frog Porridge –

While there are a number of frog porridge spots around the area, this one is my personal favourite. Regularly packed with patrons, with seats extending all the way past the back alley, this frog porridge stall has become somewhat of a local favourite for some.

Their porridge is light and fluffy, sprinkled with refreshing bits of ginger. This pairs perfectly with their lightly spicy frog legs (from $8.50), steeped in kung pow sauce. Another popular dish is their fried oyster omelettes (from $5) which they also sell at the same coffee shop, so be sure to give that a try as well!

When it comes to supper, nothing hits the spot quite like some warm skewers. With multiple outlets across the island, BBQ Box is known for their meaty skewers and affordable prices.

Skewers start from $1.50 each, and feature a wide selection of dishes including enoki mushrooms, beef tendons, chicken wings, and other fan-favourites. What really sets BBQ Box apart though, is their hip décor and affordable drink promos, making them the perfect hangout spot for a night out with friends!
